Ayurvedic Association of Wisconsin (AAW)

Friday, 11/16/18       Strategic Planning Meeting

Present:  Nicole Hinterstocker, Barbara Chernov, Stacey Kennedy, Carol Nace, and Rebecca Magestro

Election of new Secretary With the resignation of Susan from the Board of Directors, Rebecca volunteered to take on the duties of Secretary for the organization. The motion was made by Nicole and unanimously approved by all present.   

501c(3):  We revisited the discussion to change our tax filing status to a 501©(3) organization and become a non- membership association. Motion was made by Nicole and approved by all for approval to change our filing status. 

Facebook Page:  The board discussed the need to clean up our Facebook page and create posting rules on the page. New rules will be as follows: 1) The topics must fall under the categories of Ayurveda, Yoga or Meditation. 2) Events must be hosted by WI based businesses. 3) Events are limited to two posts per month. 4) All posts/ads will need to be approved by someone on the board prior to posting. 

Strategic Planning:

Revised Mission Statement: Building a supportive community in Wisconsin by expanding awareness, through education, networking and inspired conversation for all those drawn to the wisdom of Ayurveda, Yoga and Meditation. 

Revised Vision Statement:   To be the pillar of Ayurveda in Wisconsin by providing education, connection and support. Creating a community rooted in Ayurveda, Yoga and Meditation.

Short-term goals: 

  1. Marketing strategy & Action plan focused on general awareness of AYM
  2. Start a plan for a summit for Oct 25th, 2019
  3. AYM collaborative events monthly

BHAG: Bring in Key Note Speaker

Events: The group confirmed our next AAW event will be Food As Medicine in January. Barbara will check North Shore Library to see if they would be available for us on 1/5/19.

The board brainstormed other possible min-workshops/lunch ‘n learns/events: Spa Day, Intro to Ayurveda, Kitchari Cook-off, Friendsgiving, Jyotish, Seasonal Ayurvedic Yoga, Dinacharya, Herbs, Incense, Mala Making, Samkhya, Meditation, Energy work, mindful parenting, Kids yoga, Mindfulness, Pranayama, monthly masterminds, tongue/pulse self-evaluation.   

Possible speakers: Heather, Whitney, Kyle, Mary Jo, Michael K. 

 

Ayurvedic Licensing: We discussed the email Carol received from Heather Burkart regarding the pros/cons of Ayurvedic licensing for Wisconsin practitioners as proposed by NAMA. It was mentioned that this forum might best be done in an online format where interested parties could leave their opinions and comments on the matter. 

Next Board Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 12/19/18 at 10am. Nicole volunteered to host in Cedar Grove.
